Under that wide blue bonnet complete with white stripes, there’s 850BHP of supercharged V8 built by Ford Racing guaranteed to make the earth shake. The wide-bodied Mustang bodykit was designed by the great man himself – and this whole car put together by the ‘Friends of Carroll Shelby’, headed by Ford themselves as a one-off tribute.
Unveiled in time for the prestige Monterey Motorsports Reunion in California, it’s an awesome car with it’s massive 13-inch wide rear wheels, clothed in 345-section high performance rubber to give the BHP something to grip. God only knows what it must be like to drive. Only a few will find out, as the car will undoubtedly go on tour next year. Let’s hope Ford UK can bring it here.
It is the American muscle car that defines a huge period in motoring history. RIP Mr Shelby, you did a fantastic job.
