WE’RE up for anything that helps at Wheelnuts. And if some of our fans are getting to that age – don’t get a new hip, Get a Honda !
Because our international informant tells us that this is the ideal alternative to all that surgical blood and gore – a mechanical walking aid that’s somewhat cooler than a disabled scooter. Developed as a direct result of Honda’s success in the whacky world of robots, the ‘Stride Management Assist Device’ is currently being evaluated by around 40 Japanese pensioners. And so far, so good – it works !
The device comes in three sizes – small, medium and ‘get some exercise’ – weighs next to nothing and is powered by the usual Lithium-ion rechargeable battery which lasts for over an hour on full power before recharging.
There’s massive investment in this project, with Japanese government backing apparently and across the whole field of helping the aged, both Honda and the Government seeing worldwide potential in the stride assist !
